Ofgem has announced two reviews following recent extreme heat events and whistleblower allegations raised by former Energy Secretary ClaireCoutinho. The NESO Board has commissioned an independent investigation into concerns including
record-keeping and potential influence over control room decisions, with Ofgem overseeing the process to ensure it is impartial and transparent. Separately, Ofgem will carry out a formal review into NESO’s handling of the extreme heat events, including whether it complied with regulatory requirements and what lessons can be learned to improve future resilience and preparedness. The reviews will also provide an opportunity for staff to share their views confidentially.
