On Tuesday, 2 June, the British government announced its proposed level for the seventh Carbon Budget,

targeting an approximately 87% reduction in emissions for the period 2038 to 2042, according to a

government press release. This target has received backing from the Environmental Audit Committee

and the Climate Change Committee.
